  • You receive a  Zoom invite to meet online with Malcolm Gallagher for your personal 45-minute coaching session. (Allow for one-hour in total)

You’ll likely have set your personal goals for this new year, perhaps even the decade. But if your business could talk to you what would its personal goals be? After all, especially if it is a limited company, your business is a “living thing” – an entity.

And if you were to give your business guidance on setting its goals (tongue-in-cheek!?) what would be your advice to it?

Let me give you some suggestions to may like to make!

5 worthy and better business goals.

You could advise your business to aim for the following

  1. Be Caring.
  2. Be Productive
  3. Be Ethical
  4. Be Alive
  5. Be Feared

Let’s consider each of them

  1. Be Caring. Your business wants to play its part in the community, after all it lives there even if you don’t! It wants to “do good” for the community, its people and the environment. A good start is to implement a Living Social Value (LSV) policy. This is not just something to achieve third-party compliance but a truly embedded and enthusiastic activity. Let me know if you need help on understand and creating your LSV.
  2. Be Productive. Your business is not daft. It wants to be around for a long time and knows that productivity feeds profitability. It wants to keep working and relies on you to have a Productivity Improvement Plan in active use. What’s one of those? Well, it starts with a simple but thorough “enterprise audit” to identify loss and opportunity. It wants you to be agile in 2020, adaptable and ready to embrace change.
  3. Be Ethical. Your business’s people are important, along with its customers, suppliers and influencers so it wants to trade ethically and with integrity. If you haven’t yet helped it develop a Business Culture then it’s time to do so. A Business Culture goes beyond the typical employee handbook and, properly done, it sets your business soundly apart from others.
  4. Be Alive. Too many businesses have become gloomy. Possibly as a result of global uncertainty and indecision. Possibly as a result of inactive leadership. Your business wants to “be alive” and buzzing. It wants you out there proactively telling its story and giving confidence with a solid communications plan.
  5. Be Feared. Your business knows that if it can achieve the previous four it will not only be resilient but will make competitors tremble when they hear its name. That’s something that will make your business proud!

So there you have it. Your business is likely saying to you “If I could…”. How are you helping it achieve its goals?

There’s a new wave of optimism coming says BizVision’s Top Gun Sales Show host Malcolm Gallagher. He urges businesses to plan now to ride the wave to greater sales in 2021 as BizVision launches its KickStart Sales 2021 series of virtual events.

“Each day with our BV-TV Top Gun Sales & Marketing Show, I am interviewing business and thought leaders from around the world and feeling that wave is growing,” says Malcolm.

Estonia e-Residency attracting 100’s of small UK businesses for Beyond Brexit opportunities

In a very innovative move, Estonia launched its e-Residency initiative a few years ago to help global businesses have a virtual EU company in the country.

Recently Malcolm Gallagher of BizVision video interviewed Ott Vatter, the Managing Director of e-Residency about how it works for small UK businesses and what are the benefits.

It’s time to learn a new skill – How to win during uncertainty

In this post I’m focusing on handling uncertainty. It’s not just the uncertainty of Brexit talks and elements such as immigration rules that’s causing business concern. It’s a pile up of other things such as coronavirus, climate change, floods, funding, supply chain.

Let’s face it uncertainty is the new norm and it’s here to stay.

As a business owner or leader or senior manager you need to develop a new skill and that is the ability to win during uncertainty.

It’s so easy to get into gloomy mood and ignore the opportunity out there. But opportunity is there!

For example, the Coronavirus outbreak has seen UK manufacturers, especially textile companies, get an upsurge in order from retailers who fear empty shelves from their usual China suppliers.

Goods made in the UK can be on the shelves in 8 to 12 weeks whereas China is 5 to 6 months – you know slow boat from China- so just think of the backlog brining opportunity to UK firms.

To get into the positive mindset of winning during uncertainty, think entrepreneurial.

Embrace Change – change the way you think about uncertainty. You know that change is happening and that it’s the only constant.

Have 2020 Vision…. Predict Your Future by creating it.

You know it’s coming so don’t wait for it –  invest your time to see it coming. Get talking about the changes happening outside of your industry. What is happening with the economy, where’s the new technologies, and how will they impact your industry, what is changing with customers, who and where are the new competitors?

This gives you the room to prepare. see change coming – see opportunity. choose to ignore it – and you lose.

Build Your Team Talent –  It’s likely that the only thing differentiating you from your competitors is the team around you. No, it’s not your brand, not your product or your service. It’s your team. And I know that only too well from my team building coaching. It’s about the customer experience of your team and your reputation in the marketplace that they have created for you.
