Schools Out for summer so we kick off our long-planned Summer LearnFest. Over the coming months, we’re bringing you 100’s of short and inspiring videos from the world’s top business authors and thinkers all with the aim of helping you use summer to get fit to compete even more effectively.
Each video is around 10 minutes long, so dip in as you dip in and out of the pool and reflect on the learning! Well, it’s an idea however you do it!! By the end of BVTV Summer LearnFest you can be brimful of action ideas and eager to make them work.
We start the whole of Summer LearnFest with eminent author and organizational change expert Dr. Victoria Grady, president of www.PivotPnt.com. Along with Dr. Patrick McCreesh, she has written the book, “Stuck:How to win at work by understanding loss”. It’s published by Routledge, Taylor & Francis group – www.routledge.com
Digital transformation is essential for any company of any size to not only survive but thrive in this increasingly challenging world. But, says Victoria, too many businesses are becoming stuck at it.
In her BVTV Trilogy (click here to visit it) she explains why businesses become stuck and what to do about it. Her thinking revolves around not focusing on the tech but on people which makes total commonsense to me. I especially like episode three where Victoria talks about her Assessment Style approach.
I liked the book because of its practical approach. It’s almost a working manual with its many exercises. I also think it is so topical as many businesses struggle to handle the challenge of hybrid working.
Victoria is so right when she says that “People are the bottom line”. She also says that when organizations deploy new solutions they expect a return. But that return is never achieved when people fail to adopt. So, as he continued to say, the solution is never the technology. The solution is how people will leverage technology to work differently.
It’s Victoria’s common-sense thinking that made me rush to ask her to be a BVTV SpotLearn Guest, our “Platinum Programme” on BVTV Channel Three. Fortunately, Victoria responded with a great lesson called “Using transitional objects to support organizational change”. You can watch it by clicking here. In the 9-minute video, Victoria shows you how to more effectively manage change.
So thanks to Dr. Victoria Grady, we get a great start to Summer LearnFest.
